How do you all track how well you're doing and if you're improving in your musical skill? For me (as in life) I like to note down what I do in a little notebook, what I covered during that 'session', what I felt I nailed and what I didn't. I have a feel that this might not apply to drumming though haha. How do you all track your progress and ensure you're hitting the level you want to do?

Or is it more important to just play and play as much as you want? Part of me is more leaning towards just rocking out without a care in the world!

Making music lessons is my way. However, for anything else, I'd say a blog would help. Like if you were into bodybuilding, you could set up a bodybuilding blog.

I plan to record my practices and see if I improved a bit + writing it down in a notebook. That should help me remeber and have the audio to make sure I am making progress.

Yeah I can see that one working actually, especially if you're trying to nail a certain section of a song for example. Would be good to have a look back actually over that and visually (and audibly!) look at your progress, would be satisfying to see how far one hasd come.
