This reminds me years back at high school we were thought about the Xylophone by our then Music subject teacher. It was more of theoretical learning. Can't remember much but I'll like watch a video on this now. It's was an interesting subject.

I too had experienced it even though I was not part of the drum and bugle group in our school. Actually, this is the first instrument which have taught me about do re mi. I've enjoyed the sounds produced on the Xylophones but then I've discovered that I have a liking in stringed instruments. I love percussion instruments but I guess I will leave the liking to my friends. Of course, I'm here to learn about what other people think about percussion instruments because I know it will help me produce good music in the future together with my friends.

Xylоphоnе is nо diffеrеnt thаn а kеybоаrd if yоu tаkе а сlоsе lооk. Thе оnly diffеrеnсе is thаt yоu dоn't асtuаlly hаvе/plаy сhоrds in this instrumеnt. If yоu knоw hоw tо plаy а kеybоаrd yоu'll find it еаsiеr tо lеаrn Xylоphоnе.
It tаkеs sоmе prасtiсе tо аblе tо strikе thе mеtаl plаtеs prесisеly. Yоu саn lеаrn by lооking аt sоmе gооd tutоriаls оvеr intеrnеt, аlthоugh finding а tеасhеr whо hаs sоmе еxpеriеnсе with Xylоphоnе wоuld sеrvе yоu bеst.
It tаkеs mоrе оf lоvе fоr thе instrumеnt аnd thе distinсt sоund thаt it prоduсеs tо lеаrn it rаthеr thаn аnything еlsе.
Initiаlly it wоuld sоund mоrе likе а bеll if yоu dоn't strikе thе mеtаlliс plаtеs prоpеrly but with pеrsistеnсе аnd prоpеrly striking thе plаtеs, yоu'll bе аblе tо prоduсе а gеntlе swееt sоund.

Looks like an exciting percussion instrument though I have newer played the xylophone. It goes well with an orchestra. I think I have heard songs where it has been played but I don't know where one can learn to play it for your case but there is an important online resource you can use to learn how to play it on studyladder.com which gives interactive online lessons.

I recall having one of these at school and we all wanted to play it. Ah, good memories from my childhood. :) Music and instruments is something that stays with us forever, so nothing like buying one of these for our kids and playing a little with it, very entertaining! ;)

Thе triсk is tо hit thе plаtеs gеntly аnd lift thе stiсk аlmоst immеdiаtеly. Hоlding thе stiсks in а соrrесt wаy is а kеy tо prоduсing а gооd sоund:)

Man, I could play Marry had a little lamb, the song to terminator, happy birthday, and the first part of ode to joy just because I can on the piano as well. It's cool how similar instruments play very similarly sometimes as well.

The vibraphone is also quite interesting and used in jazz. Does anyone have experience with one or have even seen one online or live? Note, it's an electric instrument.

Schools here seem to have all kinds of marching bands. Aside from the traditional marching band with a variety of instruments, schools here have the drum and bugle band with mostly boys as members. There’s also the lyre and drum which is actually xylophones and drums. I wonder why it is called lyre. Anyway, I have yet to see a good lyre and drums band because mostly the xylophone players are not that good with the notes. But I think the mistakes are tolerable since it’s not easy to play the xylophone while walking.

Xylophone also reminds me during my high school days.I'm knowledgeable of playing xylophone that's why until now I'm teaching students who play xylophone in their school.I really love xylophone and I love to share my knowledge to those who wants to learn.
